Pros and cons of copper kettles
Copper tea kettles look great if they’re looked after and because copper conducts heat better than most other metals less energy is needed and the water will come to the boil faster. A good quality copper tea kettle is expensive, though, and time is required in cleaning them to keep them looking good.
Copper kettles are available in both modern and traditional designs so you’re sure to find one that will look good in your home, whatever it’s style and decor.

Cleaning a copper tea kettle
Never use a dishwasher to clean a copper ketttle and don’t use abrasive cleaning pads. Immerse it in hot, soapy water and then rinse with clean water. Dry immediately with a soft cloth. Don’t allow it to air dry. Ideally a professional copper cleaner or polish can then be used on the exterior of the kettle although a homemade paste made with flour, water and salt can be used as an alternative.
